People ask me questions

I try answering them.

Instead of my usual daily piece, I did a little experiment. I asked followers on Twitter to ask me questions about guns, abortion and the Supreme Court. Then I did my best to answer them in the video below.

I hope I did all right.

If this is something you’d like to see more of, let me know.

Before I say goodbye, I want to say the end of Roe is not the end of Roe. There is a way forward. Forget about impeachment. Forget about reforming the court (for now). The focus should be on the Senate and four Senators: Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.

The House passed a bill enshrining Roe into law months ago. It’s since been sitting in the Senate. Manchin and Sinema haven’t budged on their view of the filibuster. Collins and Murkowski say they support abortion rights. They said Donald Trump’s three appointees would not overturn Roe. If they can be moved, that would provide cover for Manchin and Sinema. That might be enough to get around the filibuster.

That’s the path. But if they won’t play ball, voters must put more Democrats in the Senate, at least two.

While they’re at it, now’s a good time to cement the rights to birth control, interracial marriage, same-sex marriage and the fundamental right of privacy.
