The Editorial Board began in 2018 as a newsletter hosted by Substack. At first, growth was glacial, which was expected. But over time, especially during the peak of the pandemic, subscriptions grew at a wild clip. At one point in 2021, I saw one new subscriber every day. For a small thing like the Editorial Board, that was a big thing.

Growth isn’t as hurried, but the Editorial Board is still growing. In 2020, I partnered with Alternet and Raw Story. They asked me to put together a diverse team of opinion writers to cover what they think are the most important stories of the day and to tell us what they think about them. They now constitute the board of the Editorial Board

In 2021, I moved from Substack to Pico, competing service that combines email delivery, email database management and payments administration. Thanks to that, there are now nearly 10,000 people are on my free list. Of that, there are 1,365 paying subscribers. The latter are the life-blood of the Editorial Board. We could not do anything without their kind and generous and amazing financial support.

The Editorial Board continues to grow. Today, I’m rolling out what I hope will be a useful product. It’s a best-of-the-week digest that I will send out every Saturday. You might remember the  old “Weekend Edition.” I think this is better. This one is printable. For the first time in the life of the Editorial Board, our words can be read on paper.

The Editorial Board is a one-person outfit – me. In addition to writing every day, editing a stable of great writers and otherwise paying attention to politics, I’m working hard to make this ditty something I can be proud. I’m hoping to bring out more new products in the coming months. Stick around and find out. As always, thank you!
