Together we will see it through

I'll get straight to the point. I need you to step up. You have been getting the free version of the Editorial Board for a long time now. I work hard every day to put all this chaos in perspective. I'll keep doing that no matter what. But, well, you know, I got bills to pay.

The economy is terrible. Like you, I'm paying more for groceries than ever. I'm dreading the AC bill this summer. But that's why I'm making it so easy for you. For just $9 a month, you get so much, plus the satisfaction of supporting independent journalism and the common good.

I started the Editorial Board almost eight years ago, because I was frustrated. Existing commentary seemed to talk over people's heads while looking over and under the truth. I felt like there was a need for politics in plain English for normal people and our shared morality.

The mission hasn't changed. Nearly every weekday, I dispatch an email message in which I do the best I can to put the moment into coherent order so that caring people can understand what's going on and take action. It takes dedication, know-how and hard work, but I think it's worth it – and I hope you do too.

For just $9 a month, you get:

• Fresh daily analysis and commentary straight to your inbox.
• More than 20 editions a month, more than 260 times a year.
• A feeling of understanding, clarity and hope in America.
• Lots of ammunition for your next kitchen-table argument!

A little about me

I’m not a political scientist, but I have taught political science. I’m not a partisan, but for the moment the Democrats care about what I care about. I’m a journalist, writer and citizen. I’m a fellow at Yale’s Ezra Stiles College; a contributing writer for the Washington Monthly; a contributing editor for Religion Dispatches; and senior editor at Alternet. My byline has been in news outlets big and small, but mostly small. Follow me @editorialboard.bsky.social.
