The details are still being reported out, but Reuters got the scoop yesterday. It obtained a copy of the text of the peace terms that Donald Trump appears to have agreed to.

"While there were minor differences in the accounts," Reuters said, "all appeared to offer Tehran much of what it has demanded so far, with Trump appearing to win little of what he has sought beyond the reopening of the strait, which Iran shut after the US and Israel launched attacks in February."

The draft terms include:

• "the US would immediately begin releasing billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets and waive sanctions on its oil exports, in return for Iran opening the strait."

• "Iran's nuclear program would be addressed during a 60-day period of talks."

• "discussion of possible war reparations for Tehran and dropping longstanding US demands for limits on Iran's missile program."

These terms are similar to those leaked to Iran state media Friday.

In response to the leak, Trump said: "The terms that Iran leaked out to the Fake News have NOTHING to do with the terms that were agreed to, in writing. What they said, including their weak and pathetic statement on having a deal, bears no relationship to the truth."

But later, in an interview with Axios, Trump suggested that the leaked text was indeed the deal that he agreed to. He said Iran had agreed to a "public clarification over the state media reports" and that "Iran had privately 'apologized for putting out false information.'"

In other words, Trump caved, but he needs Iran's help in saving face.

Again, the details are still coming. I have not seen full reporting on the terms from the Times, the Post and others. Indeed, because they are so humiliating, we may never see them.

Even so, this looks like surrender.

"Iran is the winner," its foreign minister said on state TV.

In yesterday edition, I said Trump's weakness has caused death, destruction and misery. It is worthy of impeachment. Trump started this war as a distraction, only to create more domestic troubles for himself and everyone. Have you seen the price of groceries these days?

I'll write more about that later, but for now, I'm asking you to support my work, with a subscription or a tip. No matter what, I'll keep working hard to put politics in plain English. But I got bills to pay and a teen daughter to raise. Please help me today. Thank you!
