There are now so many people who are using artificial intelligence to generate their writing that Substack* now offers a service to scan for it. I am happy to report the results of a recent scan of my own writing. You will not be surprised to learn that it was "Fully Human-Written."

At the Editorial Board, it's just me, a human being speaking up for democracy and the common good, flaws and all. I write everything. I edit everything. Sometimes friends join me. They do this same thing. The Editorial Board is written by people, for the people.

It's because there's a human being behind the screen that I am writing today. Everyone's struggling. Your humble newsletter writer, too. Subscriptions are down, but the groceries are up. You're on my free list. Join me in fighting for democracy and the common good.

For just $9 month, you get so much: analysis and commentary; about 15 editions a month; a feeling of understanding and hope; and lots of kitchen-table ammo! But mostly, you get the satisfaction of supporting an independent voice speaking the truth as plainly as he can.

With no AI slop!

You're getting the EB for free and I know you've been reading it (the system tells me that kind of thing). So I figure that I'm not bugging you, just asking you to support something you already enjoy. In any case, I won't stop working hard for you and for democracy. I can't help myself. But I hope you will consider subscribing today or leaving a tip. Thank you!

*I did not use Substack to send you this message. I used a different service called Ghost. I do, however, rerun some pieces via Substack. That's how I know that Substack offers an AI scan. AI is apparently a problem over there, as some analysts say that as much as a third of the writing found in top newsletters uses AI.
