It’s Sunday. With my family, I’m watching online services by the Unitarian Society of New Haven. I’m doing this after having watched a video of an Amish family singing and praying and protesting in Minneapolis the murder of George Floyd by a white cop.

Together, these get me to wondering if what we’re seeing is a kind of Great Awakening, a movement of religion as well as a movement of justice. (This might be, as I said Thursday, in addition to being a transition from one political regime to another.) All this depends on how long and how intensely the spirit of protest goes on.
